PLACES OF ZERO TIME

Across the Lebanese border with Syria, humans who have fled from death gather. Camp have formed into white spots on the rolling slopes of mountains and plains. There, the people are waiting for everything, even time, which seems not to move. Such is this permanent state of waiting…

Waiting for news from their families still trapped in the line of fire.

Waiting for any sign of international aid.

Waiting for someone to finally end this war.

Waiting to get of this place.

Assem Hamsho took these pictures in these Syrian camps in Lebanon where he was working between 2013 and 2015 as a volunteer to provide education to refugee children.
